‘Why Not Minot’

I was in Minot for the majority of the two glorious days of no school – aka my freedom weekend. I did get the book Four: A Divergent Collection which, is really good so far.

Here are some of the highlights of my trip –

Hotel Waterpark:

Unlike last time I went to this waterpark, I had only gone down the purple slide once.  Purple being the most freakiest.  Being in a place of confinement going 50 km/hour is not that much of a joy ride.  I went on the Orange and Yellow slides (being rated not so freaky) 6 times. Each slide 3 times before attempting the Purple again. When I finally got to the Purple one after climbing 55 steps (not including platforms) to get to it, I counted to 20 before pushing myself off. In the end, I went on ‘Purple Monster’ as I call it now 5 whole times. Most times, I was singing ”Dark Horse” by Katy Perry to slow myself down.  It worked as I lost myself in the song.  I enjoyed it even though I was going down like a rocket.

Finding New Things:

Even though I’m proud to be a Canadian, I do enjoy going to the U.S once in awhile. My reasons: It’s something to do, I get to go to new places and, I find new things.  Some gross ex: Cookie Dough Oreo (you may think otherwise).  Some TOTALLY EPIC, ex: Goldfish Mac’n’Cheese and MEGA Goldfish

I thought it was gross. But, you may think otherwise

I almost died when I saw this. 😀

This weekend I got to spend quality time with my mother – especially when she got us lost in Minot.  She took a wrong road.  Even though we are 5 million hours away from the nearest U.S. city,  it’s worth it to experience something other then where I am.

The Best Summer EVER

Ah finally… out of Saskatchewan. Its been an interesting year but I’m so happy to be back where I belong. This… is the first week of my time in… Ontario.

Off on my adventure 🙂

My parents booked me with the WestJet unaccompanied minor program.   My flight left at 6:20am.  I had to get up at 3:15 am. We stayed at a hotel in Regina so it wouldn’t have been earlier.  I had mixed feelings about going by myself but I knew once in Ontario the fun would really start!! Off I flew Eastward. It took two hours and thirty-five minutes.  It was cool to travel by myself and it gave me a sense of complete independence 🙂 The crew were so nice and awesome too. Even though I didn’t get to see the cockpit, I still had so much fun.  The crew took very good care of me.

The moment we landed, I looked out the window.  In my head I thought “I missed you so much”!! I saw the city in which my whole life started (literally). I had to wait till I could get off the plane while everyone else got off first.  The crew would take me when everyone was off.   I didn’t care though,  I was just happy with the fact I was in Ontario again. When I got off the plane,  a WestJet worker took me to find my uncle S so I could officially be in Ontario. When she found him,  he signed papers and  she left. We then got my suitcase and  we left.

I spent two days at my aunt L and Uncle S’ house with some of my cousins. We had fun playing video games and going to the park.  Soon enough, the time flew and I was going to my aunty G’s house. It was too late to go to the pool so I waited until the next day.  We didn’t go to the pool right in the morning because we had to go to church.  I’ve been to the church we had gone to a couple of times. Some people recognized me.

We went to the pool at six o clock.  I went to hide because my cousin C was coming and she had no clue I was in Ontario.  My Aunty G asked her she was liking being off school and she said yes.  she was So when she came, I jumped up and said “It’ll be better now that I”m here!!!!!” It took her awhile to figure out who I was because of the sun (I’m blaming it on the sun, you heard it). When she realized, she ran over screaming with joy and squeezing the living daylights out of me. We swam for a while then I went back to get some stuff because I was spending a couple days with her.

The next day was really fun. My friend E came over for a while. I found she was like two feet taller than me. I was shocked, where did the time go by?! Which btw is what I said to her. When she left, we went back to the pool.   After a delicious dinner,  we went to this Awesome frozen yogurt place called Menchies Frozen Yogurt. It was sooooooooo good!! I got cake batter flavour and piled Strawberry popping boba balls on the it. Boba balls are these little things that the inside is really juicy and the outside is edible too but it’s not as good as the inside.  We got our ice cream and left. Pretty soon the next day flew by and I went back to my aunt’s house.

So, this was my first week in Ontario.  More will come!!

Disclosure:  This is all my own opinion.  Was not paid/compensated in anyway.

I learned … again… on a weekend

I learned – all through today. It was pure torture I tell you, pure torture 🙂 It was just complete anarchy.  First place, Doukhobor, set in Veregin – population of a grand total of 42. Then, Kamsack, the town near a mountain of ducks a.k.a. Duck Mountain. (At least I think it’s near there).

First I had to get up early. It’s a normal thing to do, on school days!! Not on a WEEKEND!! I’ve been doing this all weekend. At around 9 o clock , my parents dragged me along to the car ( not literally though :)) We set off.  It took about 45 minutes to an hour to get there, but we passed the time with music!! Ahh good ole music to rock and wake up your mind.

We arrived at Doukhobor National Heritage Village. The main building was locked so we called the museum.  A man came to unlock all the buildings for us.

Can you see me?

Who’s that looking in my window?

My favourite part out of all of it was when we went into the schoolhouse/banquet hall. There were a whole bunch of benches in the back and chairs in the front. I said while pointing at the benches “Poor people section” and then I pointed at the chairs and said “Rich people section” It was a hit with my parent’s……………… I guess you had to be there.  It was funny.

Benches in the back, really nice chairs in the front.

After we took a tour of Veregin – population 42 – a minute later we completed the tour.

A lot of stores look like this in Veregin

We then took off to the ‘ Garden Of Saskatchewan’ a.k.a. Kamsack. I found a house there that reminded me of a house in Mississauga. We also went to  the Kamsack museum. I saw so many things, like an Ontario College of pharmacists diploma, Old toys, old guide and scout uniforms, olden days gas pump and many more.

I could be in the Corner Gas movie!! 🙂 I’m a natural!! (Hint hint wink wink nudge nudge)

It wasn’t the weekend I was hoping for, but it was cool 🙂

Saskatoon…ing Part 3: BOOMtown Blast

Here it is… the final part, (and unexpected for some people who didn’t think I would write a finale), of Saskatoon…ing. BOOMtown Blast!!!

The first thing we did when we got to Saskatoon, was go to the Western Development Museum (WDM).  We had lunch in the café with the delicious food. That’s my personal opinion about the café – no one asked me to write that.  The chicken strips and fries were AWESOME! As we entered the museum, I personally was AMAZED! The Yorkton WDM  is pretty good and all but Saskatoon WDM was more fun. The theme is Boomtown 1910. When you got inside you looked at Boomtown St. It was filled with old-time buildings like general stores, old fashioned doctors and dentist offices, a one room school house and much more.  You got to go into the buildings.

In the schoolhouse, I found out I have the same birthday as John.  A. McDonald.  He was the first Prime Minister of Canada. Pretty cool huh? There was mannequins like they use in boutiques all over.  These mannequins had faces, and I was creeped out.

After that, we went on to other parts of the musuem.  They had the Great Depression and believe me, it did look and sound very depressing.  The had exhibits all the way up to now.  My favourite part would probably have to be the Funhouse.  It was just a hall of mirrors but still pretty fun. There was other things too like hearses.  The one we saw was used as a coffin for the dead and an ambulance.  Pretty cool too.

In the Great Depression section, there was an old timey car called the Bennett car.  Since during the great depression everything everything cost so much money, no one could afford gas.  People would take their engines out, and hitch the horses to drive.  There was  a sign saying “Want to drive? Pull the reins to start.” I thought, “Of course I want to drive, who doesn’t?”  It was pretty cool to drive.   Which, BTW I can start driving at 15 here in Saskatchewan. Since I turn 15 early in the year I can drive in grade 9. ‘Sigh’ sometimes an early birthday can totally be worth it.

Well, that’s the end of Saskatoon…ing. Hope you enjoyed it.

Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post.  My family went to Saskatoon and this was our adventure 🙂

Saskatoon…ing Part 1: The Chapter-Indigo Affiliate Quest

I am going to talk about my trip to Saskatoon for the weekend, in which I recently just returned from. This is part 1: The Chapters-Indigo Affiliate Quest.

Living in a small town, we only have a small Coles.  Back in Ontario, probably every week we went to Chapters to look and buy and eat good cookies from Starbucks.  Being in the big city we knew we had to make a stop at Indigo.  Being the newly affiliated Affiliate I now am, I decided to look at books that would be fun to review. So, I quested the whole Kids/Tweens/Teens places in search of that special book.

20140308_143539

Teacup oh teacup… how I missed you so!!!

First stop on the quest for the “Golden” book was… well… the 6-8 book area. Despite my age being 12, I still like some books meant for that age range. There was Geronimo books, Poptropica books but… no book I wanted to review. I stalled until my mom said to go to the 9-12 section.

I saw books that I, surprisingly never thought they existed. Like Adventure Time. (I read a couples pages, I just couldn’t help it… it looked funny) Pokémon and others. Yet, still nothing, so I found another section.

I was getting warmer, because I saw a book I really wanted to read. It is called Jedi Academy. It is about a boy who got rejected from pilot school and Yoda invited him to come to Jedi Academy. But, despite how cool it looked it wasn’t “Golden” it was more like “Silver”.  So I kept looking.  Then I got to the back of the 9 – 12 area…

20140308_144954

YESSSSSS!!! I found it. I may not look happy… but inside… I exploded

That’s right: Tales of a 6th grade Muppet: When Pigs Fly was the prize. Danvars, the main character and I have sooo much in common. A little info about the book for those who haven’t read the first two books.

Danvars woke up one day and found himself with Muppetmorphisis. He starts seeing things that only exist in the Muppets. There’s pros and cons for Danvars being a Muppet. Follow his adventures in Tales of a 6th Grade Muppet.

I am looking forward to reading my new book.

Stay tuned for part 2 (and possibly part 3) of Saskatoon…ing. 🙂  It involves hotels, hearses, Boomtowns, the moon and MORE!!!

Disclaimer: I am an Indigo affiliate. This post though is all my own opinion.  My mom helped me edit this one.

Revisit Regina

This past Thursday to Friday my family  went to Regina, and it was FUN!!!!!!!!

I had no school and I  thought it would be fun to go with my family.  They were ok with it.  I wanted to go to the Science Centre.  It was a long drive. But  when we finally got to our hotel I was AMAZED. Now, being in a not-so-rich family, this hotel looked POSH. There was 25 floors and we were on the 22nd.  Pretty impressive right? I thought it was.

Night City View. 22nd floor style

After we settled in to our room my mom and I went to find the pool. We went all around this ginormous hotel ’till… we finally found it. Now, we found the pool. We could go explore the GREAT BEYOND!!!

We went to the mall which was conveniently attached to our hotel. I was pretty excited because it was actually a REAL MALL YAYYYY!!!! Where I live the mall is really small. We were walking for sometime when  I laid eyes on the most EPIC PHONE CASE IN THE HISTORY OF PHONE CASES!!!!!! And, I was allowed to get it!!! YAYYYYY. It was a red minion with 1 eye.

pic 1

My very own minion to do my bidding!!!

After we went to the food court, and, get this it was actually a real food court, with food from ONTARIO, YESSSSS!!!!!  We finished eating then went to the pool. We had the whole entire place to ourselves and that was EPIC!!! My favourite part of swimming was the slide. My mom on the other hand disliked the slide.  Then, it floated  into Friday.

Friday, I was partially not happy because, 1. I had to get up and 2. it was early in the morning. But, nevertheless I was happy to go to the science centre.  My absolute favourite parts would have to be 1. The butterfly exhibit where I went on a zip line and learned that cocoons are not for humans and are very uncomfortable. 2. We watched the static show and, my hair stood on end!!! It felt weird, but it was all in good fun. ( for me anyways) HEHEHE.

pic 3

Alberta Einstein

The rest was alright. The Imax movie was pretty cool too. But, the food well, I tell you about it. There was only 1 food stand. They had only Pizza and Hot Dogs for lunch.  I wanted a Hot Dog,  but they didn’t serve it on weekdays. So I settled on pizza, but they didn’t know when it would be coming in. Ontario, you can get food with ease. Here, not as much, but still it was good. Then we had to leave. 😦 I kind of didn’t want to.

All in all this trip was pretty cool. I got a minion, went swimming, felt like Albert Einstein and flew like a Butterfly. I would recommend the Delta hotel for all of you because that hotel was just absolutely Amazing.

I emailed a company and I’m hoping for good luck 🙂 It would be cool to feel like an official reviewer 🙂

Minot Of Life

This weekend my family went to Minot, North Dakota. I have to say it’s not Buffalo, but still an amazing experience!  To get there – well it kinda of made my mind go bonkers! We passed some cows and just when I thought that was it for now Saskatchewan decided to put cows right beside the others. My mom in the morning said, “Look out your window!!”.  I said ” it’s not like I’ve seen my last cow!”

It was about another 3 hours until we got to the border. The Border guard checked our car trunk and all 3 of us felt just a tad bit uncomfortable. Going over the border in Ontario, we’ve never had our trunk checked.  It was really different.  In Ontario there is 5 million cars going across.  In Saskatchewan there is a negative of 5 million.  It was different.

We got over and I immediately was surprised. Why you might ask.  Well I’m going to tell you! North Dakota is like an American Saskatchewan! I’m telling you flatness for miles! That was until awhile later when I saw hills. Then I felt better. But still it was kinda freaky considering this was the first time I’ve been to Minot.

North Dakota – an American Saskatchewan!!

The first thing we did was go to the mall to eat. I got chicken nuggets and fries from a place called JJ’s Steakery.  Thumb’s up to the people who made it. For dessert we went to a place called Cherryberry’s ( I now call it Heavenberry’s because that’s how good it was!)

A masterpiece of diverse frozen yogurt and sherbet, and about 10 toppings :)

A masterpiece of diverse frozen yogurt and sherbet, and about 10 toppings 🙂

After we went shopping at Target.  I got a squishy toy skylander and a box of candies called Big Box of Boogers. I’m not joking that’s the name.

IMG_0356[1]

My boogers 🙂 LOL

Then we went to the candy shop.  I saw America’s largest gummy bear ( there were about 10 that I saw and they were huge!) I settled for a bag of toxic waste gum, Harry Potter chocolate frog and Bertie Bott’s every flavour beans.  All bought with my own money!!  I had the beans on the way home.  They were both disgusting and good.

When we were done shopping . We went to check in at the hotel. It was a nice place. My mom stepped out for a moment, and I hid under the throw.  When she came back she couldn’t find me for a few seconds. It was hilarious!!!

IMG_0342[1]

Mommy will never find me!!!

IMG_0343[1]

TOOOO LATE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We went to the waterpark and for the slides I rated them like this:  (1 being fun to 10 being freaky)

Orange- 5
Yellow- 1
Blue- 9

A stellar hotel water park

It was time to leave and I went back to the room. I wanted to go to the arcade before bed and I did! My dad took me for that.  I got 149 tickets and got some cool prizes.

The next morning we woke up early and got breakfast which consisted of bacon. Always better with bacon! Breakfast was done. We packed up and left for some last minute shopping. After we were going to Walmart but ended up not going.  I was sad.

North Dakota was a good place to go for the weekend. I love visiting the States!!  The people are nice and they have such cool stuff.  I would go back, how ’bout you?
